Unlike other software, RSCEdit gathers the string by using offset indexing which always gives the exact string position and its certain length.
Unicode and ASCII (extended bits) string supports.



Unicode format represents multi graphical language in wide range independent of local language system. ASCII code is 7 bits codes represents the 127 control codes and graphical language characters, the extended bits (position 128 to 255) represent the regional language code which depending on the Windows code page (encoding) which supports on the local system. In the case of ASCII character, RESEdit use code page to encode (convert string data to ASCII code upon the selected code page) and decode (convert ASCII code to string upon the selected code page). The selection of proper code page according to the way they encoded will help any software on Windows system can translate the exact character of ASCII code. For example web browser needs the correct code page to rendering the web page as openning the mail inbox, because the mail message encode all message as ASCII character.
Working savely within the allowed range, any alter by adding byte or adjust any offset of string in rsc file may harm your file and other components which link to it may interrupted or affacted by invalid contents (because .rsc file is a compiled resource file which owned by others components.
